As a continuation of our usual night to hang out from college, every week my friends will meet up at my apartment for “Wednesday Night Anime.” The name is mostly a moot point at the moment, since it happens on Tuesday nights now. We also haven’t been watching too much in the way of anime either. However, now it’s tradition and that makes it ok.
There’ve been plenty of times when I’ve been trying to remember when some event took place at Wednesday Night Anime and completely drawn a blank. In the interest of keeping track of these sorts of things, I may as well blog about what goes on each night. Plus, it’ll give some healthy competition to Omlette’s blog. In this free market internet economy, healthy competition is always good.
So anyway, in attendance this week were: Liz, Thor, Chris, Erin, Omlette, and Bart. Dinner consisted of Pizza.
We played one game of Pimp: The Backhanding. This was a game that Thor, Chris, Liz, and I had first played at AnimeNext and found to actually be relatively amusing. When we got to the last round, I was currently in the lead and Omlette was the only other player who stood a chance to win. With Omlette and I unable to attack each other, it gave Bart and Thor complete power over who would win the game. Unfortunately, they decided to take out my hos and let Omlette become the super pimp.
Once Chris showed up, Thor showed us how to play the game Chrononauts. This was a game that he had first played at UberCon and thought was pretty cool. We gave it a whirl and actually had a pretty good time with it.
Bart won the first game by Stopping the Titanic from sinking in 1912 (only to make it explode in 1929), Getting the US to declare war on Germany in 1917, and of course, causing Berlin to host the world’s fair in 1948.
I won the second game by allowing the Cosmonauts to orbit the moon in 1969, letting Communism reinvent itself in 1991, and allowing Waco, Texas to occur as normal in 1993.
Bart came out ahead on the last game by getting Andrew Johnson Impeached in 1868, Hosting the Olympic Games in Warsaw in 1944, and banning guns in 1999. As a side note, Hitler died 4 times over the course of this game. I’d be more disappointed in Bart winning, but his clutch victory got people out of my apartment on time, instead of having to wait till 11:30.
I also promptly failed to ham Chris.
